October 5, 2007, Underwood Plaza Update

The North Stairs, with rails, were erected from the 5th to the 6th Floor Level. The South Stairs were erected from the 3rd to the 5th Floor Level. Diagonal bracing continued to be welded up between the 5th and 6th Floor Levels. The next section of columns from the splice point above the 6th Floor up through the 8th Floor Level began to be erected. Beams for the 7th Floor Level began to be hung.

The 6th Floor slab was poured, finished and sawn. The second half of the grade beams at Powerhouse Row began to be formed up.

Exterior metal stud continued to be installed at the 3rd and 4th Floor Levels, moving around the north elevation to the east side. Interior partitions continued to be framed at the west half of the 4th Floor Level and around to the north end. Walls were laid out on the 5th Floor Level.

The main exhaust duct riser with fire dampers at the floor slabs was installed at the 3rd, 4th and 5th Floor Mechanical Rooms. Horizontal ductwork continued to be hung over the 4th Floor Level.

Cast iron waste lines and copper HVAC lines continued to be hung below the 5th Floor Level.

Control lines were established on the 6th Floor slab.

Temporary lights were run over the 5th Floor Level. Electrical panels began being installed at partition walls on the 4th Floor.

The fireproofer was back and began spraying columns between the 3rd and 4th Floors and began spraying the 4th Floor framing.

Bikes, Blues and Bar-B-Que took place the end of the week.

September 30, 2007, Underwood Plaza Update

Crossland Concrete closed up form work and poured a portion of the grade beams at Powerhouse Row. By week’s end, formwork began to be removed. Rebar and mesh, along with block-outs, was installed for the 6th Floor Level slab pour.

Fayetteville Mechanical continued running cast iron drain lines and PVC condensate drain lines below the 4th Floor Level and continued hanging ductwork and running HVAC copper piping over the 4th Floor Level. They also laid out walls on the 5th Floor Level and cored holes in the slab for piping. Cast iron drain lines were installed below the 5th Floor Level. On Saturday, floor drains and block-outs were installed for the 6th Floor slab pour this coming week.

Midwest Drywall moved up to the 4th Floor and began studding the west exterior wall and interior walls at the west half of the floor. Scaffolding for the east elevation arrived and began to be erected. They also continued studding the west exterior wall at the 2nd Floor Level.

Crossland Steel finished hanging out the beams at the 6th Floor Level and set bar joists, along with bridging. Edge angles at the perimeter and at framed openings were set. Decking was installed. Bracing was installed below the 6th Floor Level and was welded in place.

Bill’s Electric received the main switchgear and set them in place at the First Floor Mechanical Room.

Walker Masonry was on site with representatives from Ryder Brick and Sioux City Brick. A sample panel was laid up.
