February 29, 2008, Underwood Plaza Update

With masonry complete at the West Elevation, the mason was washing the brick and cast stone as he lowered his mobile scaffolding.

The pier driller mobilized to drill piers for the Parking Deck. The pier reinforcing steel cages were brought on site. Piers began to be drilled and poured.

Excavation continued at the Parking Deck area. An area of poor soil was encountered and removed and filled with structural borrow material.

The utility company was relocating electrical power feeding Underwood Jeweler’s.

The roof top air handling unit was brought on site and hoisted to the roof and set with the tower crane.

Wood blocking continued to be installed at the perimeter of the main roof.

Exterior metal stud framing continued at the two towers at the main roof level.

Plumbing rough in continued within the building, including gas piping and water piping.

Fire rated shaft wall liner panels continued to be installed, including at the elevator machine room.

Ductwork continued to be hung over the upper floors.

February 23, 2008, Underwood Plaza Update

The installation of the main roofing commenced.

Felt paper continued to be installed at the East Elevation.

The main ductwork for the rooftop air handler unit was being hung over the 9th Floor.

Brick continued to be laid up at the East Elevation at the north end at the 1st Floor Level.

The loggia columns at the East Elevation were sheathed. Felt paper was being applied to the columns.

A temporary dust wall was installed at the East Elevation at the 2nd Floor Level where the main building ties into Powerhouse Row.

2-hour rated shaft wall liner panels continued to be installed at the north stair.

Coping stone was laid at the 6th Floor balcony wall at the West Elevation.

Various exterior openings were being closed up with foam and urethane sealant.

The mason began washing brick at the West Elevation.

Dewatering was taking place at the Parking Deck excavation in preparation for commencement of pier drilling.

The east tower was being scaffolded up in preparation for metal stud framing and sheathing.
